Student Shopping Day : 8:00 am – 2:00 pm

Please use the RSVP button above so we’ll know to expect you.

Our Holiday Student Shopping Day starts around 8:30 am. Students will arrive by class throughout the morning for a personal, guided shopping experience. We usually finish with all the classes by 2:00 pm and then start to clean up. If you can stay the whole day, that’s great! But if you can only attend the morning or afternoon, your participation is still very much appreciated.

There are four main roles for Earn2Give volunteers on Student Shopping Day:

Holiday Market Greeters

Student Shopper Guides

Gift Station Vendors

Wrapping Station

What do you do as a Volunteer?

Each student will be introduced to a Volunteer who will have an Ikea shopping bag ready to help choose, carry  and wrap all of the gifts they pick out. Students will have their Achievement Point/Shopping List sheet in hand to show the volunteer the family members they will be shopping for. One of your most important jobs  is to smile and congratulate the students on earning their points and help them focus on having a good time.

What is involved with serving as a Student Shopper Guide?

At this event, we expect to serve around 350 students between the ages of six and eleven. For many of these children this will be the first time they have ever been able to provide gifts for their brothers, sisters, parents or grandparents. You can imagine the excitement they will feel upon walking into the Holiday Gift Market with their classmates. Our Student Shopper Guides pair up with the students and help them navigate the Market to find the right gifts.

It’s always helpful to first walk around the entire room so the students get a chance to see everything that is available before they decide on their purchases. It can be overwhelming!

Important Reminder:

Each child is allowed to choose ONE gift per family member. Please divide and maximize their points so they can find the best possible gift for every family member that lives in their home. Remember, they cannot buy anything for themselves. Our mission is to teach children the joy of giving to others from the hard work they achieved.

What is involved with being a Gift Station Vendor?

We typically feature around 30 separate gift stations and manage 10 individual shopping rounds with about 25-40 students per round. As a Gift Station Vendor, you will  work behind the table and, along with their Shopper Guide, help them navigate the many gift options displayed. There will be items with different point values, so it’s important to assist the children in selecting the right gift for the appropriate aged member of their family based upon the points they have available.

Gift items will need to be restocked on your table from the boxes that are arranged behind the tables.

What is involved in Gift Wrapping?

We wrap gifts in tissue paper and put them in appropriate size gift bags for each family member. Many gift stations will have gift wrap available there to facilitate this process. For stations without gift wrap, there will be supplies throughout the gym.

Will there be a lunch break?

Our Holiday Gift Markets are held in school on a school day, so when the children break for their lunch period, we’ll take a break as well.

A boxed lunch along with bottled water will be provided, so be sure to RSVP above so that we will know how many meals to have on hand.

We ask that all participants follow the health guidelines outlined below:

Please do not attend if you have symptoms of COVID-19 or if you are under isolation or quarantine orders. Let’s please keep the health and the well-being of the children and their families in mind on our set up day.

Thank you so much for your support and participation!
